Please note that once your request has been submitted online, you will receive an acknowledgement of
receipt by email. Please allow six to eight weeks for processing. However, processing may take longer
if we receive a very high volume of requests or if your request is incomplete. If your request does not
fulfil our eligibility criteria and/or falls under our list of exceptions as described in our policy, we
are under no obligation to answer you.

Our Eligibility Criteria
Preferred Sectors
Many are the causes worthy of financial or other kinds of support. At Astral, we give preference to helping organizations that are active in the following sectors:
- Health among children and youth (well-being and security)
- Health (research, prevention, and treatment)
- Culture (well-established organizations supporting the music, film, and television industry)
- Education (recognized programs)
Eligibility Criteria
So that a request for financial support can be considered by Astral, it must fulfil both of the following criteria:
- be submitted by a non-profit organization based in Canada, recognized as a charity and registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (requests for financial support)
- target sectors that Astral gives preference to as mentioned above
Exceptions
Great causes abound and we sincerely believe that all non-profit organizations are worth supporting. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept all the requests that we receive, as worthy as the cause may be. Moreover, in our financial support policy, we chose to exclude the following types of organizations:
- organizations not registered with the Canada Revenue Agency
- organizations that already benefit from Astral's support
- social clubs
- political parties, political organizations, or interest groups promoting a political ideology
- lobbying and advocacy groups
- individual projects
- private foundations projects outside of Canada
- conferences or annual meetings
- audio, video, or web productions (some of these requests can be submitted to Astral's Harold Greenberg Fund; eligibility criteria are posted at http://www.astral.com/en/about-astral/ the-harold-greenberg-fund)
Managing Requests for Financial
Support We apply strict selection criteria to all eligible requests in order to choose the projects that will receive our support. Accordingly, Astral takes into account the following key points:
- nature of the request and financial or visibility objective
- history of requests made by the requesting organization
- value of our commitments for the current year in the requesting organization's sector
- benchmarking of contributions made in the same sector
Contribution Allocation
So that as many and diverse organizations as possible can benefit from this opportunity, Astral has adopted a contribution allocation process based on the following principles:
- an organization can receive only one contribution per year
- the renewal of a contribution by Astral is not automatic from one year to the next and each new request must be submitted for evaluation
